Looking for help from the masses

Several British shows have been suggested to me for viewing (since I liked Murder in Suburbia so much) so I was wondering if anyone knew were I could pick up the first eps of:

Waking the Dead
Murder City
Murder Prevention Unit
Life on Mars

Also - I have found some Brit show on DVD on Amazon for Region 1. Is there any difference (besides what type of player is needed) between these and the Region 2 DVDs?
